Personal Life And Family:

Simone Biles, an Olympic gymnast, is biologically related to Shanon Biles and Kelvin Clemons. But for the majority of Simone’s childhood, They were not actively involved in parenting daughter. When Simone and Adria were still very small, their grandparents, Ronald Biles and Nellie Biles, adopted them along with their younger sister.

After learning that Shanon’s children were in foster care in 2000, Simone’s maternal grandfather Ron Biles and his second wife Nellie Cayetano Biles intervened to take temporary custody of the children in Spring, Texas. In the end, Simone and her younger sister Adria were formally adopted by Ronald Biles and Nellie Biles in 2003. Harriet, Shanon’s aunt, is Ron’s sister. She adopted the two eldest children. Simone views Belize as her second home and is a citizen of Belize thanks to her adoptive mother. Her family is a devout Catholic.

Benfer Elementary School in Harris County, Texas, was Simone’s first school. But in order to devote more time to training, she decided to transition to homeschooling in 2012. She went from doing roughly 20 to 32 hours of training a week. She graduated from high school in the middle of 2015. Simone had originally stated that she would enroll at UCLA following the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, after signing a National Letter of Intent in November 2014. She did, however, declare on July 29, 2015, that she was going to become professional and give up her NCAA eligibility in order to play for UCLA.

Aged out of the 2012 London Olympics, Biles became a major candidate for the 2016 Games in Rio de Janeiro. Leading the US to a gold medal in the team competition and winning the individual all-around crown, she not only met but surpassed expectations. She also won the floor and vault competitions, becoming just the fifth female gymnast in history to win four gold medals in one Olympics. Biles now has five medals overall after winning a bronze in the balancing beam competition.

In 2018, after taking a break from gymnastics, she disclosed that she had been sexually abused by Larry Nassar, a former U.S. national gymnastics team doctor who was subsequently found guilty. In spite of the difficulties she encountered, Biles recovered and created history at the 2018 U.S. national championships by being the first female gymnast to win all five events in nearly 25 years and earning her fifth all-around title. In addition, she added four golds (including another all-around title), one silver, and one bronze to her collection at the 2018 championships, bringing her career total at that competition to 20 medals, solidifying her position as the most decorated female gymnast in the history of the world championships.
